COHO Banner 2

Christian-run Child of Hope Outreach (COHO) Uganda offers safety, hope, love, education, protection and inner healing to children in Eastern Uganda who have lost their homes, been sexually abused, orphaned due to AIDS/HIV and those living in abject poverty.

Everything we do is for children - we offer them answers to some of the difficulties they face and, as you will see in this website, our activities are varied and expanding!

As an official registered Non Government Organisation (NGO), we develop strong community links with schools, hospitals and churches in our region, plus strong relationships with parents, children, teachers, hospital administration and local authorities - it all brings about mutual understanding and co-operation.

Researcher Ben Palmer-Fry said this in 2009 about Child Of Hope’s work:
Having spent a fair amount of time in various parts of Uganda, I am familiar with the state of poverty and the hard lives that many of the country's people lead. While researching food security and livelihood improvement in rural areas, it became clear that meeting the food and education needs of the children in the community was a real challenge for local families.

When I arrived in Mbale and visited Child of Hope, it was distinctly remarkable for two reasons:
1. The work they're doing is directly meeting the pressing needs above,
2. The name of the charity itself couldn't be more appropriate - the children benefiting from the project work are genuine sources of light and hope in an otherwise despairing environment.

The slum in which they work is full of very poor, ostracised and persecuted people living in utter squalour BUT... through the nursery school, the community support work and the grace of God, Child of Hope is actually lifting the community out of the chronic hopelessness.
