New shoes for five children

We regularly buy new shoes for all our children – because they get through them pretty fast! And barefoot they can pick up all kinds of injuries and disease. It’s part of our overall healthcare programme... caring for the whole child.

Why do we buy shoes in Uganda, rather than send used shoes from the UK? A couple of reasons... one is that by buying in our town (Mbale), we help the local economy – that’s something we try and do whenever possible. And secondly, it’s very hard to transport shoes to Uganda! Currently we depend on UK visitors taking them as extra luggage, so the ‘flow’ of shoes would be very hard to regulate; it’s not ideal.

So if you choose to buy some shoes for our children... thank you!
