This is an external report on the impact of Child of Hope’s work in Namatala, conducted in March 2010 by Hands-on advisory services Ltd.
The main findings of the review are that Child of Hope has achieved its planned objectives for supporting poor communities of Namatala. These include increased literacy levels, improved sanitation and hygiene, reduced mortality and poverty rates, reduced crime and immorality rates. This list is by no means exhaustive.
Challenges that Child of Hope still face include the community’s ignorance and limited awareness about socio-economic right issues, unrealistic expectations from beneficiaries and an unfavourable strong cultural influence and poverty.
In conclusion, the review places an emphasis on Child of Hope achieving financial and social sustainability and encouraging Child of Hope to access support from other sources such as districts, IGAs and international NGOs.
