This is Rose, who transferred to kitchen work at our nursery/primary at the beginning of this year and is now one of four cooks at Child of Hope.
She started work with us as a cleaner in 2018 looking after offices, classrooms and toilets. Now, her day can begin as early as 6am and continues until 5pm. Rose usually collects firewood from the store each morning and lights a fire over which the meals are prepared. She also helps washing kitchen utensils.
The kitchen provides lunches for pupils and staff when the school is open. After lunch there are plenty of tasks to be done to prepare the kitchen for the next day’s round of cooking.
