The Child of Hope schools have closed, along with every school in Uganda.
Until the threat of Coronavirus lifts, all our pupils have been encouraged to stay at home. However, without a lot of space in the home, nor access to TV or computers, we suspect there won’t be a lot to keep them there!
The school sick bay will remain open to support our pupils and our social workers and IGA staff will remain at work as long as possible. Our health unit has acted to help prevent spread of this virus to the children and staff by putting in place hand-washing points with disinfectants.
We understand that there are no ventilators in this part of Uganda for anyone who catches the virus.
At the time of school clsures there were no cases of Coronavirus confirmed in Uganda; although some cases had been confirmed in other African countries, including neighbouring Kenya where schools were already closed.
Our Ugandan staff say they are extending their prayers to the affected countries and praying for our donors, supporters and sponsors.
