Sponsoring our Welfare Support Team (from £10/month) at Child of Hope helps with the family support we provide in the slum.
There isn’t an effective welfare system operating in Uganda, so we have developed a welfare team of our own that regularly works around Namatala. Your sponsorship will help the team provide regular home visits, counselling, training for parents/carers (health, literacy, safety, parenting skills), and advocacy for children's and women's rights. The team also identifies vulnerable children and adults in the local community and supports their urgent care needs, with referrals to our health or foster team when necessary. The team has assisted with a wide range of problems, such as repairs to unsafe and unsanitary homes, finding safe accommodation for abandoned children, and even rescuing a child from a ditch.
