The local Namatala River has flooded and burst its banks due to high levels of rainfall – destroying crops and flowing across roads.

During the dry season, when water levels are low and though it’s not clean, the river is used by many families living in the community of Namatala for domestic purposes.

As you can see, the water is especially dirty at the moment and the community is at risk of water-related diseases.

From our intervention, none of our pupils and their families have to drink river water – and our family support team is working hard to reach the wider community with awareness about the dangers held by river water.

Thankfully our agricultural projects are far enough away to not be affected by the floodwaters.
