Sarah school tailor_0280.JPG

After successfully completing business training, Sarah was enrolled in our Income Generating Activity (IGA) programme, receiving a grant that enabled her to buy new material. She already owned a sewing machine and had been mending and patching clothes in her community for small amounts of income. The grant and her IGA training enabled her to move her business to another level.

Child of Hope recognised her useful tailoring skills and subsequently hired her as one of two full-time school tailors. She does an excellent job of ensuring every child has a uniform, helping also to repair their clothes when they get torn or old.

Her increased earnings enable Sarah to augment her husband’s income, so that together they meet all the family expenses like rent and food bills.
