It’s always great when visitors from the UK get to spend time in Uganda with the Child of Hope schools. At the moment, Owen Green is visiting. He is the chaplain at our two link schools in Swindon - The Deanery CE Academy Secondary School and Kingfisher CE Academy Primary School.

To help strengthen the link between COH and the UK schools, the four lowest classes - baby, middle, top and P1 - are now linked with the same age classes in Kingfisher Primary. We are hoping they stay linked throughout Primary and Secondary school so the children get to know each other as they grow up. It was with great excitement that each COH class received a bag from Kingfisher containing items such as a storybook, a profile of the teacher and a class photo.

Owen usually takes a school assembly once a week at Kingfisher Primary, and he managed to hold a joint assembly with our Nursery classes for them via video link from Uganda. The children loved seeing their new friends in the UK, learning songs and acting out a Bible story.

Kingfisher has also very kindly donated lots of new reading books; all the classes were thrilled to receive them and couldn’t wait to start reading! Thank you so much, Kingfisher, for your generosity. We look forward to following the progress of this exciting link!
