Dave & Sharon with Jabel_0160.jpg

Four-year-old Jabel has not had a happy life, abandoned at a young age to live under the care of a neighbour who is a friend of his mother. She cared for him all last year but he joined the youngest nursery class when the welfare team spotted him.

Jabel missed his parents and attended school irregularly. He has been reunited with his mother this year but is not doing well because of her financially unstable situation. However, Jabel now has friends at school and sponsors in Northern Ireland who are supporting his education – Dave and Sharon, pictured above while volunteering at CoH this year.

He also has an older friend called Jonathan, who is given the responsibility of collecting him each morning from home and taking him back after school – and he even collects his porridge for him at break times. His support has been brilliant and Jabel now attends school regularly and seems a lot happier.
