Our fostering programme (sponsorship from £15/month) offers a home environment for some children who can't live with their immediate or extended families.
Some children are unable to live in a happy and loving environment with their biological parents. They may be orphans, abandoned children or have faced abuse at home. For those in this situation, the Ugandan Government states that they should live with biological relatives, if this is not possible, then the next best solution is fostering, leading to adoption within Uganda.
Sadly, there is no official fostering service in Uganda. Our Family Support team finds suitable local families willing to take children into their homes. Although Ugandan families are used to accommodating children from their wider family, taking in children unrelated to them is very rare. Therefore, plenty of counselling and explanation is carried out with prospective families and children, as well as inspection of homes. Your regular donation will help to make payments to families who are fostering, to cover the extra costs involved in taking in a child.
