School holidays at Child of Hope looked a little different for three of our boys this year — instead of a well-earned rest, John, Abey, and Raphael spent part of their break on a building site. Our building site, to be exact!

We're currently expanding our hostel facilities to give more secondary students the chance to board with us — and this holiday, these three stepped up to help make it happen, getting hands-on experience and earning a wage in the process. We think that's pretty brilliant.

John completed S4 with us last year and is now studying building construction — so this was the perfect chance to put his learning into practice. He's planning to spend his earnings on a phone to support his studies and a trowel to get started on his toolkit. His goal? To qualify as a civil engineer.

Abey is currently in S3 with us. He'll be putting his wages towards exercise books — because when you want to be a nurse one day, you keep on top of your studies.

Raphael, in S2, has a similarly practical plan: school shoes, exercise books, and paper. The building blocks (quite literally) for a future electrical engineer.

Three students, one building site, and a very clear sense of where they're headed. We love seeing our boys invest in their futures, and couldn't be prouder.

See how the build is currently coming along in the photo below!
