Infection with HPV (Human Papiloma Virus) is very common in African girls and can lead to complications such as cervical cancer. Our health team has run an awareness programme with female pupils and vaccinated all those aged 10 years and over.
Our school nurse and her health team have been working with health officials from around the city to monitor and improve the health of girls in Child of Hope’s education programme. Our adolescent girls receive help with sanitary products as well as support from the health team for self-esteem and personal hygiene issues.
