When our Gill Sherlock Secondary School opened last year, there was no formal student leadership body. But with students back at school, elections have been held to find a group of prefects to assist with smooth running of the school.

A number of students put themselves forward for positions that include head boy and head girl, information, games and academic prefects. The candidates canvassed for votes from their fellow pupils, which was valuable experience in exercising their leadership skills.

A well-organised voting process overseen by the electoral commission of the school and students enjoyed the opportunity to elect leaders of their choice, along with understandable nerves among the candidates themselves. Soon, we will bring you some information on the successful candidates elected to these posts.
